What do you see?

photo and sound

The piece What do you see? explores the ideas and perceptions of a diverse group of people when confronted with the same experience of viewing a world map.  Every individual response to the map and to the question “What do you see?” was recorded in one-on-one interviews, and the answers were shortened, edited, and recompiled to simulate a group conversation.  Their voices represent a variety of different countries and cities, economic conditions, ages, and cultural subgroups. The work allows the viewer to glimpse the diverse worldviews of people in Boulder, Colorado, and invites them to consider the project's question: What do you see?
