The way we see ourselves and wish to be seen by others is
oftentimes different than how society actually views us, especially for
marginalized individuals living in a white dominated
America. Claudia speaks of two particular instances when society
projected their negative, stereotypical views onto her, deeming her violent,
aggressive, or a gangster because of her Latino heritage. Projection
of a stereotype onto an individual steals their power of
self-representation. Representations of her identity are presented
in color, and stereotypes are shown in black and white.
